The Principality of Andorra has become this Friday night the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) 190th member. This culminates an application process that began last January, when the Minister of Finance and Spokesperson, Eric Jover, made the formal request to the international organisation.

After months of joint work between the technical teams of both the Government and the IMF, this Friday evening the Ambassador of Andorra to the United States, Elisenda Vives, has deposited the instrument of ratification at the headquarters of the International Monetary Fund, in Washington, coinciding with the organisation’s annual fall meeting.

Subsequently Vives, to whom the Executive has given powers to exercise this function, has signed the bylaws on behalf of Andorra in an act in which Minister Eric Jover and the Secretary of State for International Financial Affairs, Marc Ballestà, have also participated virtually. With the signing of the articles of agreement, the Principality of Andorra has become the IMF’s 190th full member.
